Remembering Summer 2011

One of the things we have enjoyed about living in Cortez is having "basement dwellers". For the last several years, out-of-state Farm laborers have lived with us while working for Lenny on the Ute Farm. This year was probably the best EVER with Chalene, Brooke, and Gwen.
Chalene has a fabulous pair of rubber boots that she loves. Truth be told, we all tease her about them, but they do the job. Obviously, her feet never get wet. But I bet they get sweaty!I was pressed into service when two Stinger tires were needed and there was no one else to drive over to Richfield, Utah. Five hours over and five hour back.... The trip over was uneventful, but the trip back was more exciting because of a huge gully-washer of a thunderstorm. I pulled over when I could no longer see the road. I listened to a book on cd suggested by one of the girls listed above. It was called "Cloaked" and was well-written and entertaining enough to keep me in my seat for 10 hours! I know it's hard to see, but that's two huge tires in the back of our pick-up.Stu was home from his hay projects in the Dakotas just long enough to attach Road Rally decals to Molly, his Mach I Mustang. He and his former roommate, Charlie, drove fast for 2000 miles. He thought it was fun. It certainly was the high point of a rather dismal summer for him.
